Controlled removal of a microscopic layer of damaged clear coat, until what’s left is flat, clear, and deep again. It’s not waxing over problems and not a quick buff; it’s staged machine polishing with a defined finish target, checked under inspection lighting panel by panel. Damage that lives in the clear coat, swirls, light scratches, oxidation, corrects out. Damage through the color is a paint repair, and the assessment tells you honestly which yours is.
The paint decides, under the light, at the free assessment. One step, a single polishing stage, wakes up lightly swirled daily-driver paint and suits most cars. Two step adds a cutting stage before the polish for neglected, heavily swirled, or etched finishes that one pass can’t flatten. We’ll show you the test spot on your own car and price both honestly; upselling a two step onto healthy paint isn’t how this shop works.
Brush car washes, mostly, with dirty wash mitts and dry dusting close behind. Every one of those drags grit across the clear coat in circles, and sunlight makes the circles visible. Buffer trails and holograms are different: those are the signature of a careless machine polish, usually a rushed dealer prep or a cut-rate detail. Correction removes both kinds, and the aftercare advice that comes with it keeps them from coming back.
Always, when the paint needs it, because ceramic coating locks in whatever sits beneath it, swirls included. Coating over damaged paint preserves the damage under glass for years. The right order is correct first, coat second, and it’s why we quote them together so often: the correction restores the finish, the coating defends the restoration. One assessment covers both decisions.
