It chemically bonds to your clear coat and becomes the sacrificial surface the world touches instead of your paint. Water beads and sheets off, dirt struggles to stick, UV stops cooking the finish, and washing becomes fast and scratch-safe. What it does not do is stop rock chips. That’s physical armor, and it’s called PPF. We install both, so you’ll get the honest answer about which problem you’re actually solving.
Like paint, which is the difference between us and a parking-lot application. The finish is decontaminated and, where needed, corrected first, because coating locks in whatever is under it, swirls included. Then the coating goes on in small sections, worked methodically panel by panel, and the car cures with us for one to two days before it goes back into weather. It behaves like an added layer of clear coat, not a sticker, and it gets treated with that respect.

Yes, and it’s one of our favorite combinations. Film takes the rock chips; coating over the film adds the gloss, the UV protection, and the easy-wash behavior film alone doesn’t have. The whole car washes the same way, film and paint alike. On a new car, the order is simple: film the impact zones first, coat everything second. Factory paint can be filmed and coated right away; only freshly repainted panels wait out their cure first.
Gently, and it isn’t much. Hand wash or touchless, a proper wash mitt, and skip the brush tunnels that scratch everything they touch. No wax needed, ever again; the coating is the protection. A quick maintenance wash keeps the beading lively, and if the surface ever feels less slick after a couple of years, a booster application brings it back without starting over.
