Paint Protection Film, Installed Like Paint

Podium Body Works installs PPF the way we paint cars: with the panels off. Handles, lights, and trim come away so the film wraps past every edge, invisible from any angle. Coverage runs from the front end to the track package to the whole car, factory paint can be filmed right away, and ceramic coating layers over the film.

Protection

What does PPF actually protect against?

The physical world: rock chips, road debris, gravel trucks, parking-lot scrapes, and the sandblasting a Texas highway performs on a front bumper. PPF is a thick urethane film that takes those hits so your paint doesn’t, and quality films self-heal light scratches with heat. What it doesn’t do is add shine or easy washing; that’s ceramic coating’s job, and the two stack. Film is armor. Coating is finish care. Different problems, both solvable.

Coverage

How much coverage do I need, front end to full car?

As far as you want to go, and we quote it in the tiers customers actually choose. Partial front covers the hood front and fenders. The track package covers everywhere rocks hit most: hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, and the roof’s leading edge. Full body wraps the entire car. There’s no set menu and no bundle pricing games; it’s your car, your roads, your call, quoted honestly at each tier so the step-up cost is plain.

Our method

Why install film with the panels removed?

Because film edges are where installs fail, and hidden edges can’t fail visibly. Wrapping an assembled car forces the film to end in sight: at handles, around lights, along trim, where edges catch light, fingernails, and wash water that lifts them over time.

We disassemble, wrap past the edge, and reassemble, the same discipline as our paint work, done by techs who take apart far more expensive things weekly. And because film is one giant sticker, whatever contaminant gets sealed under it stays there; our booth-clean environment is half the install.

New cars

Can a new car be filmed right away?

Yes, factory paint films immediately, and honestly the sooner the better, before the first rock finds the bumper. The wait applies only to freshly repainted panels: new paint off-gasses for four to six weeks, and film applied too early bubbles now and pulls paint later. We see that failure arrive from elsewhere regularly. If part of your car has recent paint work, we film around the cure schedule and tell you exactly when each panel is ready.

Pairing

Should ceramic coating go over PPF?

It’s our favorite combination: film takes the rocks, coating over the film adds the gloss, UV resistance, and easy-wash behavior film alone lacks. The whole car then washes the same way, film and paint alike. On a new car the order is fixed and simple: film the impact zones first, coat everything second. One appointment plan, two protections, no conflict between them.

Clear bra

What exactly is a clear bra?

The same thing as PPF, older name. “Clear bra” dates from when film came as a pre-cut kit for the nose of the car, the zone the vinyl bras of the eighties used to cover. Today it all means paint protection film, cut for any panel. If you searched clear bra and landed here, you’re in the right place, and everything above is your answer, from partial front to full body.

If rock chips on that paint would hurt, yes. It’s the physical shield ceramic coating is not.
Film stops chips; ceramic adds gloss and easy washing. They layer together, and we install both.
Yes. Factory paint films immediately; only freshly repainted panels wait out the four-to-six-week cure.
Years with sensible care. Aftercare guidance comes with the install, film by film.
