Bumper Repair and Replacement

Podium Body Works repairs and replaces bumpers at both shops, Round Rock and Liberty Hill, with factory paint match and the sensor recalibration modern bumpers hide behind their covers. When we pre-order and pre-paint your bumper before drop-off, the swap happens in a single day. Photos of the damage get you a free estimate.

Repair or replace

Should my bumper be repaired or replaced?

It depends on what the damage did to the plastic and to the sensors behind it. Scuffs, scratches, and modest cracks in the cover often repair well. A badly damaged bumper gets replaced, because repairs must hold spec for the sensors to read through, and because fitment on a compromised cover never stops being a fight.

Either way, we tell you which side of the line your bumper is on after we see it, and the photo estimate usually settles it before you drive over.

Hidden sensors

What sensors hide behind a bumper?

More than most people expect: parking sensors, radar for adaptive cruise and emergency braking, blind spot monitors in the rear corners on many models. This is why a bumper job that looks cosmetic often isn’t priced like one. Remove and reinstall the cover, and those systems need recalibration; replace the cover with one painted too thick or repaired off-spec, and the sensors misread the road.

We calibrate in house, and we quote that line up front so it never lands as a surprise.

The finish

Will the paint match?

Yes. Your bumper is painted from the factory code, sprayed out on test cards first, and blended so the new paint reads as one surface with the fenders beside it. Plastic bumpers take paint differently than steel panels, which is exactly why bumper resprays from cut-rate shops so often look almost right. Almost right isn’t the standard here; it’s the paint work we’re known for on much more expensive panels.

Same day

Can a bumper really be swapped in one day?

Yes, with pre-ordering, and it’s the most popular way we do this job. You send photos, we order the bumper, paint it to your code while it’s off the car, and you drop off on the morning it’s ready. The old cover comes off, the new one goes on, sensors are calibrated, and you’re back in your day. When a car has to sit with us for teardown or hidden damage, we say so before you’re committed, not after.

Claims

Does insurance cover bumper damage?

When the damage comes from a collision, yes, minus your deductible, and we handle the claim from your claim number onward. One honest scope note from years of doing this: insurance pays for what the accident did.

Rock chips and old scuffs on the same bumper aren’t part of the claim, but since the cover is already coming off and into paint, adding them is the cheapest they’ll ever be, and we’ll quote that separately so the choice is yours. The claims guide covers deductibles and supplements in plain language. Bigger hit than a bumper? That’s collision repair, and it starts the same way: photos, then teardown truth.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Repairs cost less than replacement, but sensor recalibration is often the line people don’t expect. Photos price your exact damage, free.
Smaller cracks with intact mounts often repair well. Deep cracks, torn tabs, or a distorted cover mean replacement, for fitment and sensor accuracy.
Modern bumpers hide radar, parking, and blind spot sensors that must be recalibrated after removal. It’s a safety system, wearing a plastic cover.
Yes, when we pre-order and pre-paint the bumper before you drop off. It’s the most common same-day job in the shop.
Yes, matched by factory code and blended so the bumper reads as one surface with the panels around it.
